Underground United Vol 2 LP – OUT NOW!

Containing previously unreleased tracks only…

Yes, after a lot of work it’s done – Underground United Vol 2 LP is in town!

Volume 2 is containing 10 previously unreleased tracks recorded between 1990 and 2010 and 1 bonus track which is dedicated to Mc Polo who sadly passed away in 1996.

To the tracks..

Volume 2 starts with a very underrated crew located in Oberhausen (Ruhrpott area, Germany) who (apart from a 2 track demo tape in the early nineties) only ever released two tracks on the Underground Unsigned sampler in 1994: Actual Proof. There has been much more unreleased material of them like ‘Warning’, ‘Weird Wickedness’, ‘Actual Theme’ or ‘Third World’ (Snippets of these and more tracks of the crew can be heard on undergrounds united’s own www.britcore.radio.de) but one’s choice was taken. The 1993 recorded ‘Falze Prophetz’ is Actuals Proofs contribution to this sampler and listen yourself…it’s been a good choice!

A1 Actual Proof – Falze Prophets

After Actual Proof II Tone Committee are proving that 1993 was a good year indeed. They bring us ‘Caution On Foot’. It’s bad soundquality versions were circulating on tapes since the early nineties, copied from tape to tape to tape to tape until it were hardly recognisable. Straight from the DAT and remastered it made it’s way to this record. Featuring MistaH BoHze and Mista Defy on the vocals, joined by Deluge (a.k.a. Chuck of Course Of Procedure) for one verse and Dj Krash Slaughta on the decks this track is hardcore directly in the face, straight forward rapping. You can’t get much harder.

A2 Two Tone Committee – Caution On Foot

Straight after their debut 12inch ‘Jaw Warfare & From Now On’ First Down went to Cobden Caper Studios to record one more track, ‘I’m The Captain’. Originally meant to be on the debut 12″ it just wasn’t ready in time. Kold Sweat heard that track and showed some interest in First Down and wanted to sign them straight away. It was re-recorded at the Kold Sweat studio in Sheperds Bush in London using a different beat but was sadly shelved by Tony Hickmott the owner of the label. Two other tracks were also recorded during this session, ‘Jaw warfare pt 3′ and ‘The war corridor’. Aroe and Klear were not entirely satisfied with the Kold Sweat recordings so they re-submitted tracks several weeks later that got recorded in Astra Studios In Kent (where Dj Klear had secured a job as a studio engineer). These tracks were, ‘Listen to me’, ‘Jaw warfare pt3 remix’ & ‘You gots till high noon’. Both were very pleased with these songs and were incredibly disappointed when these tracks were also rejected as being ‘not what the label were about’. We’ve got the original version of ‘I’m The Captain’ for you, recorded at Cobden Capers in 1990.

A3 First Down – I’m The Captain

Sublime Wizardry, consisting of producer Merlin (Hamburg/Germany) and Remark (Brighton/UK) of Deliverance/Hundredth Monkey/Monkeysons fame submitted the youngest track for this sampler. The crew played several gigs alongside Killa Instinct, Hideouz Newcome and many others over the past years and are giving their debut on wax here with ‘Capital C.U.N.T’, recorded December 2010. There are many many tracks more that need to be heard so watch out for these guys!

A4 Sublime Wizardry – Capital C.U.N.T

After an impact on the scene with two twelves and one album the rap-technical very advanced Tekneek of Dark Craftsmen concludes side A with a very electronical ‘Cyborg Nation’. Expect some dark sound, using vocoders in places. The track was recorded in 2000. This track beeing alongside ‘T-2000′ (as heard on the ‘No Shadow On Your Sundial CD) my favourite Dark Craftsmen tune ever! Look out for new material of the man!

A5 Dark Craftsmen – Cyborg Nation

The second side start with hardcore legends The Criminal Minds (TCM). After two phenomenal Rap releases in the very early nineties they went on to produce some Jungle/Hardcore/breakbeat records and had a long awaited comeback to the Hip Hop scene this millenium. With beeing from 1995 ‘Where’s The Juice’ shows that they still produced hip hop tunes in the midnineties, this tunes reamainging unreleased until now. If you haven’t got their First two record you shpould have a look on this side for their recent releases. And if you got both you should get the latest releases for the bonus stuff still. The Regroup The Loops EP is a musthave for everyone anyway.

B1 The Criminal Minds – Where’s The Juice

Their first and only release so far, the 6ft Under EP, is a sought after collectors item for many years and with it Dookie Squad equaled a status as legends of the Britcore scene. Beeing back on producing tracks and performing their tracks live since a couple of years Alikazams solo-track ‘Beats And Rhymes’ found it’s way on Underground United Vol. 1. Volume 2 is featuring the whole posse again – on the 2007 recorded ‘Hostile Action’.

B2 Dookie Squad – Hostile Action

When speaking about legends of not only the UK but the european hip hop scene Gunshot will definitly be one of the first names to be mentioned. Gunshot were one of the pioneering crews that showed europe the new independant and self confident face of hip hop, far away from its birthplace. There’s not much more to add than just the facts…that the original version of the 1993 on the ‘Patriot Games’ album released ‘Bullets Entering Chest’ made it on wax for this one, recorded 1991. Ruff rugged and raw!

B3 Gunshot – Bullets Entering Chest (Original Version)

After releasing their debut 12inch ‘Original Break’ in 1990 Solid ‘ N ‘ Mind put out a nowadays impossible to get cassette release of ‘Centre Stage/Woke With Nothin”, followed by the vinyl release in 2009 only. Straight after they put out another unreleased tune from back in the days called ‘Battle Tipped Rhyme’. The Assembly Worker did an exclusive remix of the 1992 recorded ‘Battle Tipped Rhyme’ for Underground United Vol. 2 to carry forward with the recent Solid ‘n’ Mind releases. Check the categorie ‘releases’ (or use the search function) to have a look for the previous releases. They’re nearly sold out everyhwere so be fast to hunt your copies down.

B4 Solid ‘N’ Mind – Battle Tipped Rhyme (Remix)

Having their debut on wax in 1991 Manslaughter 666 changed their name into Drunken Eejit, now consisting of Dj Tones and Reach Da Reapa only but were joined by Hideouz of Hideouz Newcome in this millenium.

After releasing an album on CD and a solo album of Reach Da Reapa on CD recently (check the ‘releases’ pages or do a search) and some life performances in Germany and the UK the guys are back on wax about 20 years after their first impact. They bring us ‘G-Hot’ reinforced by Lennie and Pride of the Suspekt crew.

B5 Drunken Eejit feat. Suspekt – G-Hot

The very last track on this album is a bonus track which is a very typical Hamburg Hardcore track of Direkt Actions own Mc Dynamo, uncomprimising fast and raw. Recorded at about 1995 (but never really finished) this track is dedicated to the man himself, rest in peace Polo. No snippet here.
